Cornerstone Farm Ventures was founded in 2000 as a result of poultry producers asking for help in sourcing processing equipment. At the time there was not a "one stop" location for producers and processors to acquire poultry processing equipment.

We took up the challenge and became dealers for several different equipment manufactures. Since 2000 we have continued to add equipment that will benefit both small backyard processors as well as federal licensed poultry and red meat plants.

Jim McLaughlin has over 25 years agricultural experience. With his wife Peg they have successfully operated sheep, beef, goat and poultry operations. Peg also is a nurse who has worked in both hospitals and nursing homes. This experience allowed her to be the best young stock person around. Many young animals have been saved due to her diligence. She is a great partner and brings balance to the operation. Jim and Peg have experience in non agricultural businesses as well, owning and operating a trucking company in the Northeast US. This experience has placed Jim in the position of being able to consult and implement practices on farms and businesses that will provide positive returns. We look forward to assisting you with your business operations. If we can be of any help please contact us.

The McLaughlin's also do Custom Cattle Grazing. We have over 20 years experience with rotational grazing and provide seasonal pastures to graze cattle. We have over 50 acres of top quality pasture that provide cattle with the protein they need to gain weight and finish in a timely manner. We also work with other grazer's to provide additional acreage for more animals. If you would like to do contract grazing please feel free to contact us for more information.

Jim is a past president of APPPA (American Pastured Poultry Producers Association) and  served on the board for 4 years. He also pastors a small church in Norwich serving the community for over 15 years. In 2003 the Healing Rooms of Greater Syracuse asked Jim to serve as a director to their ministry board.

God places us here on this earth to take care of it and to be good stewards of our environment, this is why we believe so strongly in sustainable agriculture. It is our responsibility to take care of this earth. The Bible says the " The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to man." Psalm 115:16 (NIV). This means we must take care of this earth and nothing happens if we (humans) don't do it. It also means when we abuse it we will be held accountable for our actions. In our business practices we have aligned with others who believe we must take responsibility for our environment.

A belief of ours is "All flesh is as grass and all the glory of man as the flower of grass". This statement means two things, one that our lives are but a fleeting moment in the perspective of both the life of this planet and in the face of eternity. Two, that we as humans survive through "grass", that is, the food that sustains us is either meat which is supposed to come from grass or that the grain (plants) we eat will sustain us. Either way all that we are physically is directly related to "grass". Grass filters the rain which we eventually drink, grass produces oxygen that we breath, grass produces meat which provides protein, grass holds the soil in place to prevent erosion and we can eat other plants directly which can also sustain us. Please take care of our environment, people, land and natural resources for our generations to come.

Thanks for the privilege to serve you. Please feel free to contact us at 607.334.2833

Our Normal Business Hours Are Monday - Friday 9 am-5 pm.
Due to the nature of our business we do travel and are periodically unavailable, we ask your patience as we will get back to you as soon as we are able.

Many people ask, "why the name Cornerstone Farm?" The name comes from a passage in the Bible, Ephesians 2:20-22 which states "…built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. In him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit". We want our lives to be based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. We recognize that this comes about by learning and applying what we learn from those who have gone before us. As we mature in our Christian lives we become a more integral part of both the local and the corporate body of Christ. We are Gods temple (1 Cor. 3:16 & 1 Cor. 6:19) so as Jesus increases in our lives and as we decrease we indeed rise to become a holy temple. Both Peg's and my desire is to be all that God wants us to be. It is also our desire that people everywhere will have a personal relationship with the One who created the earth.
